Fun Xmas time wasters…

December 26, 2010

These are two of the most inventive youtube vids I’ve ever seen. Enjoy!

And this one, can hardly believe the same person didn’t do them both! ๐Ÿ˜€ Oops…my mistake. The same person DID do both of these! Can’t get enuf of them!

Cooked for three straight days in a row for guests, whew! Now off to the library to return some stuff. Check back soon for more posts, okay? Was busy, sorry for taking some time off!!!

Me and the ex-hubster (still good friends) with Xmas kitties. Miss the shirt I wore in this photo! ๐Ÿ˜€

The weirdness abounds…

December 20, 2010

Much as the Dude abides (from the Big Lebowski). My astrology-liking friends all think it’s Mercury in retrograde, which “affects communication,” and I do have to say there have been a lot of WEIRD things happening with that. Darn – I lost a cat lap and now I’m cold. Will have to go turn up the heater. It’s freezing rain (not technically, as I live in SoCal) but for me, a native and a wimp, it’s exTREMELY cold! And the rain has been constant since yesterday. Art…things have been going well, good, but also crazy. It’s all very complicated. Those who want to know more can email me at info@MelissaAnnLambert.com

Art sl*t… :D

December 16, 2010

Is what my friend called me after she learned what I had done recently when having a gallerist visitor. He fell asleep on my couch after feasting on the vegan lunch I served (brown rice w/ lentils, refried beans, green beans, potatoes, yams, soy “scrambled eggs,” etc.) and started to snore. I have people remove their shoes b/4 coming in my space, and when he woke up, he asked me to rub his feet!

Well I didn’t really think twice about it, because I grew up rubbing my dad’s back, as he used to do for his mother, and I ALWAYS used to give Steve ‘foot rubs.’ AND I’m good at it. ๐Ÿ˜€ But later, when reflecting on this, esp. after my friend calling me “art slut,” I agree with her. Can’t believe I did that! (shame). Guess it could have been worse…if I had slept with him!

When he left after seeing my light boxes, he said “excellent food, excellent company, excellent art – what more could you ask for?” (sigh). What a girl won’t do to get into a gallery, eh?

Still basking in the glow of the wonderful visit from the family the other day. Awesome memory! Mom said her & Dad will be talking about the visit for quite some time to come.

So, M owes me $, and has been ignoring my emails asking for it back; every time I asked for it she would always say “a couple of weeks.”ย  So I yanked the “free” website I did for her. When I did that when C was abusive, she said “ohmygawd that reflects really bad on your professional status when your website is gone.” Well, get a taste of your own medicine, and look forward to my small claims court lawsuit (have proof, will use). Last time I lend $ to people I don’t know extremely wellย  (money that was for my “used car fund” which is now completely gone, sad!)

Now, need something funny. Leslie, you will be sorely missed.

My cousin Toni Littlestone put this on our FB link, it’s “classic cat” – very funny, wouldn’t post, but worth the ‘visit’!

What an amazing day…

December 15, 2010

Folks came by, older bro Gene brought them by, and they saw my place for the first time in YEARS and were “amazed” by my light boxes. “They’re so much bigger than we thought!” was my mom’s comment. Was going to cook us a vegan repast and save us all some $, but they insisted they needed their meat. So we went to El Torito, and I pigged out, as usual (my mom’s term for how I eat). Gene was a real prince for doing this – drove all the way from San Diego County, got to the parental units house at 8 a.m., helped them with a few things and they were here at 10:15 a.m. Wonderful memories! ๐Ÿ˜€

Tired, big day for me, to be continued soon, so please check back!

Speaking of poetry…

Wind

She waddled upright like a worm on the night

The dark dwindled out like a pin

A rain dazzled tar-summoning mists from afar

The dull feather house smelled of tin

Leaves float warm like a cork on a storm

Smoke-streams spray crystal to ice

A wind spends out strings and flashes dew rings

Another shy dream to entice

That was WEIRD!

Glitchy things always happening with technology. Phone won’t work, computer does weird things, it goes on and on.

Anyhoo having a lot of fun on FB and reminiscing about the old days in Long Beach, Roswell St. My friend Deb remembering that we used to have “Pee Wee Herman” breakfasts. My brother had this really cherry Karmann Ghia, not sure who took this photo, but Gene (my bro), Deb, Xane (my ex), and myself were all in front of the old place in Belmont Shore. I really miss being a half a block from the beach. Felt like I was on vaca every single day, working or not. So many great memories from those days. Lived in three different apartments on Roswell St. And now a downstairs neighbor’s friend, visiting from out of state, has found an apt. on Roswell St.! Coincidences abound!

This is how I feel when I self promote with the art…

Going back with Cindy and Diana at some point. The colors are just so vibrant, have never seen anything like that before. Incredible!

From “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern”…

Found this – amazing. Below: my tribute self-portrait to Frida.
